What is Alastin Ultra Light Moisturizer?

Alastin Ultra Light Moisturizer is a daily face moisturizer carrying TriHex Technology, the peptide blend that runs through the line. Alastin's own summary is "Calm, Soothe, and Hydrate Skin": lightweight hydration that encourages the production of elastin and collagen to help improve overall skin health.

What is in it

TriHex Technology works with the skin to help clear out damaged elastin and collagen and support production of new, healthy elastin and collagen. Silver mushroom provides and encourages skin hydration. Ginger root extract is an anti-irritant Alastin includes for soothing and calming sensitive skin, and for reducing redness. Ceramide NP reinforces skin barrier function, and white tea leaf extract is an antioxidant with calming properties.

Ultra Light or Ultra Nourishing?

Alastin makes two, and picking the wrong one is the main reason people are disappointed. Ultra Light is oil-free and aimed at oily, combination and sensitive skin. Ultra Nourishing is the richer one, and the better choice for dry skin, for winter, or after an aggressive resurfacing treatment when skin wants more than a light layer. Alastin splits the two by finish: this one gives light moisture, a weightless feel and a silky finish; Ultra Nourishing gives rich moisture, a dewy feel and a hydrated finish. Two of our reviewers keep both and switch between them by season.

Alastin Ultra Light Moisturizer reviews

• It disappears on the skin. "Spreads smoothly and stays moist but not heavy or greasy." "Soft and really non sticky, which is hard to find."
• It layers. Buyers report it sitting well under makeup, and one notes her sunscreen has not pilled over it.
• Sensitive skin does well. One reviewer with sensitive skin has used it for years alongside the Alastin cleanser and reports neither breaking her out. Another with irritation-prone skin calls it smooth and non-irritating.
• Consistency is the theme. "Must use daily for consistent results."
• The price comes up, and people pay it. Several call it pricey and then say the quality justifies it.
