EltaMD Laser Balm is a rich healing ointment for skin recovering from a professional treatment. The active is 60% petrolatum, held with microcrystalline wax and paraffin, and it melts on contact to form an occlusive seal that keeps compromised skin moist and helps prevent crusting. Fragrance-free, paraben-free, dye-free, noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic, in a 3.8 oz jar.

Product Details

Sixty percent petrolatum is what separates this from an ordinary moisturizer. It does not sink in, it sits on top and stops water leaving, which is exactly what skin needs in the days after a laser, peel or resurfacing appointment. The microcrystalline wax gives it a firmer, jar-format body than a tube balm. Apply it to skin that is still moist, since that is what it seals in. Deciding between the two balms? Moisture Seal 2.8 OZ is the lighter, waterless tube version at $22.00, where Laser Balm is the heavier jar with a stated petrolatum active.
